DeepSeek Jumps to Number 2 in the AI for Work Top 100
DeepSeek, which rose to fame only a few months ago, jumped to an incredibly impressive number 2 in our latest AI for Work Top 100.
Not only did DeepSeek take the number two spot behind ChatGPT, but it also surpassed all AI platforms previously seen as competing with OpenAI's powerhouse LLM: Claude (#5), Gemini (#6), and Copilot (#7.)
The Chinese-based AI has more than double the traffic of its closest competitor, Google's Gemini, but SIX TIMES its search traffic.

According to users, some of the reasons for DeepSeek's astounding growth include:
- Enhanced Reasoning and Search Capabilities: DeepSeek is designed to delve deeper into problems, providing more analytical and structured responses, even on its free plan.
- Consistency and Context Handling: DeepSeek maintains context and remembers previously established rules during interactions, which can be more consistent than ChatGPT in certain scenarios.
- Cost-Effectiveness: DeepSeek is more affordable than many other AI models, offering similar performance at a lower cost. This makes it attractive for users with high demand or limited budgets.
Of course, concerns exist as well, especially around data privacy and censorship, as I wrote in January.
